The future of storytelling, for enthusiasts and professionals alike, is all about combining your still-image and video-capturing skills into a single dynamic shoot. Thanks to the latest HD-SLR cameras, it has never been easier for photographers to become filmmakers and tell their stories visually through both still and moving pictures. It’s an incredible time to be a working visual artist!

The flip side, of course, is making sure that those once separate worlds of still and motion don’t collide, but rather mesh together harmoniously and productively. It was with this educational goal that I joined up with creativeLIVE in August to film a three-day video workshop called: “Still + Motion: Storytelling on Location” in Seattle. Working with a real client, my friends at Jackson Kayak, I shared my approach and explained my process for producing and shooting a still and motion storytelling campaign, start to finish—everything from pre-production, storyboarding, working on location, and the process of post-production editing and final asset delivery.

The workshop received a tremendous response thanks to the help of my hardworking staff, and the spirited team at creativeLIVE.

You can still download and watch the entire 3-day workshop, comprised of 12 90-minute courses at creativeLIVE. Right now, creativeLIVE is offering a 25% discount through October 31st. Just visit this link to my workshop’s homepage and enter the discount code.

Dear Cory,
Sorry to bother, like to ask you what camera picture setting you use for your nikon films – for example your film ‘Why’ did use a standard picture profile or custom ?
Appreciate your help

Regards
Luke

Hi Luke, Thanks for the question! Always use “standard” with the Nikon D4 and D800. Hope this helps!
