Twice a year, merchandise buyers from around the world gather in Salt Lake City for the Outdoor Retailer trade show to decide how to stock their shelves in the coming seasons. This is a unique opportunity to see all the new designs and color trends, while rubbing elbows with the sports' greatest names. But the show isn't just about new toys and book signings. In the conference rooms surrounding the show, big business and serious conversations are underway.

On Thursday morning, I will be part of one of these conversations, sitting on the panel for "The Media is Dead. Long Live the Media". This panel is the continuation of a conversation that I've been having for a long time, discussing the role a new generation of video and multimedia play in telling our stories. Storytelling and the outdoors have always gone hand in hand. With the proliferation of web based media, along with advancements in technology and a resurgence in the craft, we can retell our adventures like never before.

The panel, moderated by Drew Simmons of Pale Morning Media, also includes Rob Faris, SVP of Programming for Outside Television, Fitz Cahall, creator of the "Dirtbag Diaries", Tami Snow, Communications Director for Horny Toad, and Josh Murphy, Producer/Director for Unparalleled Productions. Join all of us on Thursday, August 5th from 7:30 – 9:00 am at the Salt Lake City Marriott to be part of the discussion. Visit the Outdoor Industry Association website for full details.

See you at the show!
