Sometimes getting the shot doesn’t just mean having the right camera equipment. Sometimes it doesn’t even mean being in the right place at the right time. Sometimes getting the shot really comes down to coming up with out-of-the-box solutions to insurmountable problems.
In my latest Tech Tip for Adorama TV, I use an example of shooting a snowball fight with a group of kids to illustrate how so much of successful photography comes down to being a good problem solver. In this scenario, our problem was that it was springtime in the Sierras. The snow was cement and not conductive to making good snowballs. My solution of using a food-based product may surprise you. It may even make you laugh. But more than anything, I sincerely hope that this episode will inspire you to come up with you own inventive solutions, get out there are get the shot.
