Every photographer keeps a mental list of locations they want to shoot when the right project comes around. When the staff at Title Nine came to me with ideas for the current catalog, I knew exactly where we should go.
A friend in Tahoe has built a great home climbing wall with a view. The only problem is, because the window faces north, the golden morning light never shines directly inside. Studio lighting wasn't an option because it would create an entirely different look. So, with the help of an assistant and my new Nikon D700 (which allows for an amazing range of exposure) we improvised. Armed with a reflector and a walkie talkie, my assistant headed outside to bounce the sunlight through the window, bringing sunrise to the climbing wall. Problem solved.
We got there early, made some great pictures, then had time for an afternoon climbing session.

Wow, a D700! Does this mean you’re switching to Nikon or are you just experimenting with one?
