Party At The Beach
Last night, we we held a CRP party at one of our favorite beaches on Lake Tahoe to send off Jose Mario Borda in good style and welcome Bjorn Myhre to the office. In honor of Jose’s Mexican heritage and his love of video production, we rigged up a piñata on the Lite Pro gear 20-foot jib arm, which we dubbed the jib-yata, which as you can see in these photos was clearly a huge hit!
The Value of Interns
One of the great things about owning your own business is that you get to structure it around the values that you deem important. And for me, one of those key values was having a robust, year-round, paid internship program that would allow us at CRP to bring in new talent, provide mentorship, and, most important, create lifelong friendships. Having gotten my start in photojournalism through paid internships at newspapers, this is important to me because those internships that I did were incredibly formative experiences in my life and I’ve always felt that it is my duty and obligation to provide that same opportunities to others.
Thank You, Good Luck & Goodbye, Jose!
For the past year, we have been really luck to have Jose Borda filling this role of intern in our office. Jose originally planned to only stay for six months, but we couldn’t let him go so early. His hard work and great attitude, and love of burritos has been influential everywhere from the editing suite, to behind-the-scenes on productions, to just driving all across the country in our Sprinter van. Without a doubt, Jose has been key to many important assignments over the last year. The fact that he’s the only guy I’ve ever met who loves Chipotle burritos as much as I do speaks to the integrity of his character. My kind of guy!
Jose easily has the record for Most Miles Driven of any CRP intern to date. He’s been back and forth to Texas, up to Oregon and Washington, out to Nebraska, and all across California numerous times. For Jose, a dude who’s originally from Mexico, I only hope that getting paid to road trip around the U.S. was a big perk!
Alas, now it’s that time of year, when the mama bird needs to kick the intern out of the nest and let him fly. It’s a bittersweet week for all of us here at CRP, because we are so sad to see Jose go, but we are also so excited to see all the great things that he’s gearing up to go do. Unquestionably he has a bright future!
Welcome Bjorn!
And as Jose leaves the nest, we are also very excited to welcome our newest intern: Bjorn Myhre. We reviewed over 100 applications for this position, and it was clear that Bjorn was the right guy for the job.
Welcome to CRP, Bjorn!
Bjorn, in fact, was already part of the extended CRP family as he is actually a former intern at Novus Select’s Maine office, where he worked while he was in college two years ago. Now that he’s graduated, he’s really keen to live in the mountains and begin learning how the sausage that is still and motion production is made.
My only concern about Bjorn was that he was coming to South Lake Tahoe from New England. Obviously, I was worried about how he would manage living in a place where the mountains are bigger, the weather is better, the microbrews are more plentiful, and flip-flops are acceptable office attire.
Well … Bjorn got here this week, and within 24 hours of arriving, he has already stood on the summit of Mount Tallac with our friend Rachid Dahnoun, and sampled plenty of tasty California ales. Well done, sir!
I have a feeling that Bjorn is going to do just fine here at CRP.
I’m pleased to plug the websites of two find young gentleman: Jose Borda and Bjorn Myhre. Check them out!
