Stoked to be joining some of my favorite fellow photographers as a contributor to the new National Geographic Adventure Instagram feed. Follow @NatGeoAdventure to see the great work of guys like Jimmy Chin, Chris Burkard, Aaron Huey, Tim Kemple, Keith Ladzinski, Pete McBride, Andy Mann, Cory Richards, Michael Schaefer and Renan Ozturk.
When shooting adventure sports, it’s not always about capturing the peak action. Sometimes, it’s also about revealing those quiet moments that take place in between. — When Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson climbed the 3,000-foot Dawn Wall of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park last January, many folks across the globe seemed captivated by these two climbers and their dream of climbing the longest, hardest free climb in the world. What’s great about guys like Tommy, whose feet are shown here, is that, regardless of all the fanfare, there’s nowhere else he’d rather be than living and climbing up on the side of El Cap and enjoying this nice, airy position a couple thousand feet above the Valley floor. And as a photographer, there’s nowhere else that I’d rather be than shooting my friends and watching them achieve their dream.
