I’m humbled to share the news with you that I’ve been selected to be a part of the first Nikon USA Ambassador program. Nikon made the announcement this morning, and I’m honored to be recognized by such a prestigious company for my work:
“Nikon Ambassadors are some of the most talented and influential visual artists working in the business today. These gifted, spirited storytellers go above and beyond most, and are admired for their passion, energy and commitment to their craft.”
I am also honored to be included along side such an impressive roster of 15 other visual artists, storytellers and now, fellow Nikon Ambassadors: James Balog, Dave Black, Dixie Dixon, Bill Frakes, Jerry Ghionis, Lucas Gilman, Andrew Hancook, Robin Layton, Ron Magill, Cliff Mautner, Joe McNally, Sandro, Moose Peterson, Vincent Versace, and Ami Vitale.
In 2008, Nikon gave the world the first video-enabled DSLR camera: the D90. That camera not only changed the world of still and motion storytelling, but it changed my life. I bought a D90 as soon as I could, and it felt like a whole new universe of creativity exploded open before me. Shooting cinematic-quality motion with Nikon HD-SLR cameras that allow me to control the depth of field, and use a form factor I’m familiar with, has reignited my creative energy in a way that feels like nothing less than a gift. In the last five years, I’m proud to have relied on Nikon cameras to help me broaden the scope of my work, stoke my creative energy, and transition from strictly a still photographer, to still photographer, filmmaker, director and DP.
Thank you, Nikon USA, for the recognition. I look forward to working with the most forward-thinking camera company of our time as they continue to empower education in the photography and filmmaking world, support creativity, and innovate insanely cool new ways to help us photographers and filmmakers push the limits of visual art and storytelling.
