David Lama on the cover of the Mammut Alpine Climbing Catalog shown free climbing high on the Trango Tower captured with the Nikon D600 / Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8
I was delighted to open the mail on Saturday and see the Mammut
Alpine Climbing Catalog with my photograph of David Lama in Pakistan on
the cover. It was this time last year that I spent almost a month in
the Karakoram with David Lama and Peter Ortner. I was even more
delighted when I opened the catalog to realize that all but one of the
photographs in the catalog were my images from Pakistan. The entire team
was David Lama, Peter Ortner, Remo Masina (rc helicopter pilot), and
Andrew Peacock (camera assistant). What was also fascinating, was that
one of the images of David, Peter and I standing on the top of Trango
Tower was actually a screen grab from video and it looks fantastic in
print and in this format! This was certainly an expedition that I will
remember for the rest of my life, a fantastic journey with David and
Peter in what is certainly one of the most amazing mountain ranges in
the world. I am looking forward to the next adventure with these guys.
Special thanks to Mammut for making it all possible!
