Winter is certainly closing on a high note this year. It was very difficult mentally to leave Tahoe this past weekend as I dusted a foot of cold snow off of my car and loaded bag after bag. On my departure out of the basin, it was snowing at a rate of 3 to 4 inches an hour. And yes… rest assured, all of my ski buddies managed to text me Sunday morning about the epic conditions I was “missing” while in airports, planes, and taxis. Ahhh, if only the weather adapted to my travel schedule!
In celebration of our recent “Miracle March” and beyond, I thought it would be fun to take a look back at the work I’ve done for Ski Lake Tahoe for this seasons campaign. Shooting for them over the course of several seasons, hitting all seven member resorts along the way (Alpine Meadows, Heavenly, Kirkwood, Mt. Rose, Northstar, Sierra-at-Tahoe and Squaw) has provided quite a library of images to pull from. This year’s print ads and website update once agin show how amazing the Tahoe basin is in the winter (both on and off the slopes). But according to my calendar, it is now time for spring corn!
It was quite a surprise, when looking through the website, to see this photo of me with my wife Marina, tubing at Kirkwood. Shot by my Studio Director Blaine Deutsch, this image is testament that sometimes it is all about the camera and the operator. Even when presented with less than ideal conditions and very challenging talent, the Nikon D3s pulled through.
