LATEST WORK: Outside – Alaska

Having just returned from an epic trip to Alaska, I took a few moments to relax and flip through the new issue of Outside. I had to chuckle when I came upon a few images from my stock archive, taken during my last trip north.

In August of 2008, I traveled to the Chilikadrotna and Mulchatna rivers in Alaska with my good friend and writer Dan Duane, guide extraordinaire Dan Oberlatz and advocate & fisheries biologist Carol Ann Woody on assignment for Men's Journal. I was there to photograph the site of the proposed Pebble Mine, an area of ongoing battle between a corporate operation, looking to strip the area of its copper, and an environmental effort to save the rivers from certain disaster. Returning to the state and taking in the grandeur of one of the few remaining truly wild places on the planet, I was reminded that the Alaska wilderness is a prize truly worth fighting for.

Pick up a copy at the newsstand or visit the Outside website to see the images.
