Every day we’re given two opportunities to make good photos look great. I’m speaking, of course, about the Magic Hour—or, the Golden Hour. Whatever you choose to call it, this is the hour of golden light that occurs just after the sun rises, and just before the sun sets.
In my latest Tech Tip for Adorama TV, I explore the creative process of shooting during the Magic Hour for maximum effect. I dissect one of my favorite images of a pilot loading a float plane, which I captured during an Alaskan wild river adventure for an editorial assignment for Men’s Journal. You can read more about this trip in this Story Behind the Image.
Whether you’re in Alaska or your own backyard, the same rules apply. Get up early, stay out late, layer your photos and you will start to make good images look great. Hope you enjoy this tech tip, and be sure to check out Adorama TV for more great, free tutorials like this.
