Has it only been a year into the pandemic—or ten? It feels forever ago that I could reliably count on seeing my friends, colleagues, and fellow Nikon Ambassadors at some of the annual events that we all attend. The past year has rendered these fine folks from living, breathing people you can hug and have a beer with into little squares on a Zoom screen.
This pandemic has really put into perspective What Matters Most in life, and being able to travel and enjoy gatherings among likeminded souls is high on the list of things that are important to me.
Speaking of things that matter … Photography is right up there! In fact, it’s the theme of an open conversation that I’ll be having with one of my favorite photographers, Ami Vitale, National Geographic photojournalist and storyteller extraordinaire. We will be speaking during a two-day virtual Nikon Weekend at Mike’s Camera. Our conversation, “Photography that Matters,” will be broadcast on Saturday, May 1, from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. PST. This is a free event, and you can pre-register at this link.
Although speaking with Ami in this virtual setting won’t be the same as the real thing, I honestly can’t wait to have genuine, and hopefully interesting and entertaining conversation with her. Fortunately, the vaccines are here, and I’m even well on my way to being fully vaccinated myself. And even though we’re not quite there yet, I think we can all see the light at the end of the tunnel.
