As a guy who spends so much time in airports, I think it’s easy for me to forget how significant airports are beyond just being gateways from one place to another, beyond just being a place to sit and wait and check your smart phone. An airport really is the first impression of a city, a region or a country. In the grander scheme, an airport is a monument to a local culture and its defining arts.
I am happy to share the news that the Reno/Tahoe International Airport in conjunction with Ski Lake Tahoe is currently exhibiting photography from a core group of local lens-men, amongst them Hank de Vre, Keoki Flag, Ian Ruther, Scott Sady, and yours truly) who shoot winter sports, lifestyle and landscapes in and around Lake Tahoe. I am honored that a half dozen of my photographs were selected to hang in the exhibit. I feel truly humbled that my work might be considered worthy of the people, culture and lifestyle of this spectacular area. But more than anything, I feel proud to call the Lake Tahoe Basin home. And I hope that my love of this area shows through in my photos, and instills that genuine first impression for all those visitors who pass through these halls.
