Cool Stuff: The Last Honey Hunter

by Corey Rich

In the steep mountain jungles of Nepal’s Hongu river valley, members of the isolated Kulung culture have risked their lives for generations scaling dangerous cliffs to collect a wild and toxic honey. “The Last Honey Hunter” shares the story of the leader of the harvest and his final journey.

This film, newly released on Vimeo, was directed and edited by Ben Knight, with principle cinematography by Ben and my friend Renan Ozturk, one of the most naturally gifted and hardworking cinematographers I know.

This is an incredible film that was co-produced by Camp 4 Collective and Felt Soul Media, as well as the DZi Foundation and National Geographic. You can read the great feature story, written by Mark Synnott with photography by Renan Ozturk here.

This film has won tons of awards, and it deserves each and every one. Well done to my friends, including the tireless and ever-inspiring Sadie Quarrier.

If you haven’t seen “The Last Honey Hunter,” please make sure you dive into this misty, dream-filled world today.
