LATEST WORK: Athleta / Polartec Director’s Cut

For years I’ve been working with Polartec, an innovative technical-fabric company based in the Northeast. Polartec fabrics appear everywhere from socks and underwear to super technical outerwear used by climbers and skiers on the most difficult mountains in the world.

A lot of thought and hard work obviously goes into their products … But what good is a fabric unless someone else turns it into a useful, beautiful garment?

I know the folks at Polartec get a lot of satisfaction from seeing how other clothing companies use their fabrics to come up with innovative, creative and original designs that the world has never seen before. Polartec appreciates this aspect so much, in fact, that they celebrate top designers with an annual Apex Award.

This past year Athleta, a women’s clothing brand located in San Francisco, received an Apex for their Overcast Coat.

Recently I was given the opportunity to profile how Polartec collaborates with other companies—specifically, with Athleta, to tell the story behind their Apex-winning Overcast Coat.

It was a relatively short two-day shoot, but I think we captured some pretty fantastic visuals. We spent our first day on Mt Tam shooting running and Crossfit. And we spent the second day doing interviews and picking up B roll in the office.

Thanks to the whole Athleta team, specifically Tracey Byrnes, as well Allon Cohne at Polartec, for this opportunity. Here is our director’s cut. Please enjoy!

Strong work Corey! I love the aerials and the camera movement. Looks really smooth, likely stabilized with a MOVI? Either way, congrats!
